Oil Coated Silicone Keypads, also known as Matte Smooth Silicone Keypads, play an important role in protecting their surface. This special oil coating shields the symbols and characters on the keypad from wear and scratching, which helps the keypad last longer. During the manufacturing process, the symbols and designs are printed on the surface of the rubber keypad. A fine mist of protective oil is then sprayed over the surface, giving it a smooth and matte finish. Typically, keypads with printed symbols use this oil coating method, while those with laser-etched symbols are often coated with PU. This flexible approach ensures that silicone keypads are durable and reliable.

Surface Protection Options

In addition to oil coating, there are three other options for surface protection: PU (polyurethane) coating, epoxy coating, and plastic keycaps. While oil-coating is the most budget-friendly, PU and epoxy coatings offer greater durability with their solid protection.

Both oil-coated and PU-coated silicone keyboards have a matte finish. Epoxy-coated rubber keypads, on the other hand, have a clear and attractive resin coating. Plastic keycaps, while effective, are more expensive due to the cost of molding and labor.

These protective methods are all designed to extend the life of the keypad, preserve icons and designs, and keep the colors of silicone keys looking fresh.

Varieties of Silicone Keyboards Based on Graphic Processing Methods

  1. Illuminated keypads:

These keypads use a laser to carefully engrave characters or designs on the surface of silicone keys. This precise technique allows LED light to shine evenly through the engraved graphics, creating uniform illumination. You can choose from a wide range of design options, including Pantone and RAL colors for laser engraving.

  1. Printed Silicone Buttons:

Screen printing involves applying ink to the surface of silicone buttons, followed by a drying process. This method is commonly used for rubber keypads. It allows for vivid and detailed designs on the silicone keypad surface, with options for both Pantone and RAL colors.
